Last year, legendary director Steven Spielberg finished his 86-meter yacht Man of Steel, formerly Seven Seasnamed after Steven Spielberg’s seven children, to sell for € 130 million† Not because the 75-year-old was tired of hunting life, but because he apparently needed an upgrade.
Steven Spielberg remains loyal to the Dutch shipyard
Steven Spielberg knocked again at Oceanco van Ali Al Barwani for his new hunt. On March 11, his new sloop, under the name Y720, left the shed in Alblasserdam. “The owner played a key role in the design process, making the Y720 a very special yacht,” Oceanco said in a press release.
Measuring no less than 109 meters long, 16 meters wide and four decks, the Y720 is a milestone for Oceanco. The first phase of construction took place at Oceanco’s subsidiary in Zwijndrecht, after which the yacht was finally completed at the headquarters in Alblasserdam.
Striking design details
The interior was provided by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, while its maritime architecture was designed by Lateral Naval Architects. The giant yacht is designed with technologically advanced environmental systems that exceed current regulations.
Regardless of its size, the yacht stands out because of the remarkable amount of glass. The main deck as well as the bridge and upper decks are all completely surrounded by large glass windows.
Celebrities with their maritime wishes
Oceanco is busy with orders from famous people. They are currently also working on the three-master Y721. Intended for none other than the second richest man on the planet: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. It has probably not escaped your notice that at the time the Rotterdam De Hef bridge had to be temporarily dismantled, at the expense of the American, so that the ship could be moved.
In the past, yachts have also been delivered to other celebrities such as Nancy Walton, heiress Walmart (yacht Kaos), Jerry Jones, owner of the American Football team Dallas Cowboys (yacht Bravo Eugenia) and Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot (yacht DreAMBoat).
