Steven Spielberg is going to venture into the one genre he’s never done

The Legendary Steven Spielberg will soon release his first musical, a remake of The West Side Story and also a genre he had never explored in his more than 40-year career.

But there is another unvisited genre that Spielberg has always stayed away from, until now! The director reports that he has a number of westerns is developing, but it is unclear which one he will definitively continue with.

In a new interview with Yahoo! he addresses the special fact that he was often asked about missing genres in his oeuvre and that he always referred to the musical by default, but the western forgot:

“I’ve been asked that question for the past four decades, if not longer, and I’ve always said that a musical was the one thing I didn’t do. But what I forgot to say is that I’ve never tackled a western either. So who knows, maybe someday, who knows”?

Just a summary
As mentioned, Spielberg has already had major blockbuster successes with the thriller genres (Jaws), action/adventure (Indiana Jones), war (Saving Private Ryan), drama (Schindler’s List), horror adventure (Jurassic Park), science (Close Encounters of the Third Kind), crime (Catch Me If You Can), romance (Always), sciencefiction (Ready Player One), biopic (Lincoln), comedy (The Terminal), animation (TinTin) and of course much more.
