Steven Spielberg and Bradley Cooper are preparing a new Bullitt film. They say it won’t be a remake

The film, which has become famous as one of the best car chases, could have a sequel.

At the beginning of the year, the first speculations appeared, according to which the famous director Steven Spielberg is working on a sequel to the iconic film The Case of Bullitt (in the original Bullitt) from 1968. Now Deadline magazine has brought new information which looks more than promising.

The main role, namely detective Frank Bullitt, in the new film should be played by the famous actor Bradley Cooper, who was also supposed to become a co-producer of the film. Josh Singer, who previously collaborated with Spielberg on the acclaimed Pentagon Files: The Post (The Post), is next expected to work on the script, while he collaborated with Cooper on the next Maestro.

The new film is said to be an original, not just a remake of the iconic 1968 film, in which Steve McQueen played the lead character Detective Frank Bullitt. The original film went down in history both for its plot and for its fantastic car chase, which is considered one of the best in the history of cinema.

We don’t have any more information about the new film yet. So we don’t yet know when it will be filmed, nor when to expect the premiere. However, it can be expected that a major automotive star could once again become the Ford Mustang, which was even produced in a special Bullitt edition in honor of the film. Well, at least its previous generation.

Recall that one of the cars used by the filmmakers for filming in 1968 was auctioned off in 2020 in the amount of 3.4 million US dollars. In 2001, Ford introduced a special edition of the Bullitt, equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine. The edition of the same name was also available in the model years 2008 and 2009 and since 2018 it has also been officially sold in Europe.

This year, Ford introduced the seventh generation of the Mustang model, which still offers a V8 engine. Although the Bullitt Edition hasn’t been announced yet, it can be assumed that the automaker could participate in the creation of the film and give us a new Bullitt Edition during the film’s premiere, for example. However, this is just speculation for now.
