Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has identified the main reason behind Mohamed Salah‘s success at Anfield, as he urged the striker to extend his contract.
Salah has been impressive since joining Liverpool from Roma in July 2017, breaking all sorts of records on his way to 218 goals in 360 games.
Salah has overtaken Gerrard and is now Liverpool’s fifth all-time top scorer, trailing the likes of Billy Liddell and Gordon Hodgson.
Gerrard said in reports on Redmen TV: “I am not surprised how long Salah will last because I think he is serious about the game.
“And I think you see the type of body and the habit that you see, and of course I follow his social media and I always talk to people about him,” he said.
Gerrard coaches Al-Ettifaq Club in the Saudi Professional League, and could theoretically face Salah next season, but Gerrard wants Salah to stay, and also praised the 32-year-old’s obsession with his skills.
Al-Masry is also ninth in the list of all-time top goalscorers in the English Premier League, with 162 goals, equaling the achievements of Robbie Fowler (163) and Thierry Henry (175). .
Salah played a vital role in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp, leading them to win numerous titles including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. He has also had a good start under Arne Slott, scoring seven goals and six assists in 11 games so far.
But the right winger’s future on Merseyside is unclear, as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and Saudi clubs are waiting for him.
