Al Ettifaq officially signed Gerrard as coach in the summer of 2023. The Commandos tied the Liverpool legend for three years.

“There are three things that I always consider when I accept an offer. First and most importantly, this choice must be right for my family. We must feel enthusiastic and motivated by the challenges that exist,” said Gerrard when he was inaugurated as Al Ettifaq’s new coach.
“Second, the existing football project must be ambitious, must have the right reasons. Then of course you need to feel secure with the contract that is given, but that is the final consideration,” he explained.
