Steven Gerrard Sacked Aston Villa Manager After Fourth Consecutive Defeat | Soccer

Steven Gerrard was fired as Aston Villa manager on Thursday. The former England international must leave the Premier League club after a fourth consecutive defeat.

Aston Villa lost 3-0 at Fulham on Thursday. The Birmingham team played with ten men in the last half hour due to a red card for Douglas Luiz.

Aston Villa have only taken two points in their last four league games. ‘The Villans’ previously lost to Chelsea (0-2) and drew to Nottingham Forest (1-1) and Leeds United (0-0).

Due to the mediocre streak, Aston Villa dropped to seventeenth place in the standings. Gerrard’s team is just above the relegation zone with nine points.

42-year-old Gerrard has been manager of Aston Villa since November last year. In his first season, the former Liverpool player led his team to 14th place in the Premier League.

Gerrard was previously active as Rangers FC manager for 3.5 years. He led the Scottish club to the Scudetto in 2021.
