Bergwijn believes that the sharpness was missing. “If you look at how we approach the match … It seems as if we are going into this match at eighty percent. Then every match in the Eredivisie becomes difficult. We had to be much sharper,” says the Ajax captain in conversation with the NOS.
The selection of Ajax has many new players. Bergwijn refuses to throw the draw on it. “It’s no excuse. We have enough quality on the field to win these kinds of games. If we finish the chances, we will win this game with big numbers. But that didn’t happen and that hits hard.”

For Ajax, the focus can be fully on the diptych against Ludogorets. The KNVB has agreed to move next weekend’s Eredivisie game, so that the team from Amsterdam can prepare optimally for the play-offs of the Europa League.
