Aussie star Steve Smith refused to declare Mayank Yadav, the discovery of the IPL 17th season, as a complete success. Smith said that Mayank’s six wickets were due to batsman’s errors. Impressed by the star’s impressive start, the player warned that it will not cost him in Tests.
He’s in great shape. But most of his wickets came because of batsmen’s errors. They didn’t understand his bowling and tried to pick him up. “I want to see what Pace does when he doesn’t take wickets,” Steve Smith told Star Sports.
Smith highlighted the difference between the shortest format and Test cricket. “Test cricket is a different game, you can’t bowl 20 overs at 150 kmph in a day. “If he can do that in Australia, I will go to the non-strikers’ end,” added Smith.
The 21-year-old bowled over 150 kmph in the first two matches of his career in the tournament. He dismissed Jonny Bairstow, Jitesh Sharma, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green. The player also won two player of the match awards in IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
