Steve Kerr con Draymond Green

Los Boston Celtics came within two wins of winning their first NBA Championship since 2008. Instead, the Golden State Warriors they took home their fourth title in eight years, reclaiming the throne at the top of the NBA.

In the end, the Golden State experience trumped the Celtics, who couldn’t seem to get over themselves. They threw the ball around a lot and just couldn’t find a rhythm on offense, even though the TD Garden crowd did everything in their power to help them.

However, TD Garden did so much that it angered some of the Warriors. Chants of ‘Screw you, Draymond’ echoed throughout Boston every time Draymond Green touched the ball. While it was a hot topic during the Finals, Warriors coach Steve Kerr brought it up again. speaking with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner on the podcast Point Forward.

Steve Kerr’s Blunt Message to Celtics Fans Following the NBA Finals

“It seemed to me that they crossed the line,” Kerr explained. “I’m all for booing guys, rooting for your own team. The proper encouragement, if you want to go that route, is ‘so-and-so sucks, so-and-so sucks’. …when they said ‘Fuck you, Draymond’, 20,000 people, I also thought of Draymond’s son.”

Kerr reiterated his opinion that swearing in front of children is over the line when talking about how sweet Green’s son, DJ, is.

Kerr calls Celtics fans ‘a little extreme’

The Warriors coach maintained that fans don’t think about his actions at the moment, saying Green’s sons shouldn’t have to listen to drunken fans curse at their father during a basketball game.

“DJ, five years old, sweet kid, nicest kid… this sweet, innocent little kid has to sit there and watch 20,000 drunken fans insult his father,” Kerr said. “People don’t think of it in those terms when you’re looking from the outside. I think it flummoxed Draymond a little bit because that’s pretty extreme.”

Green’s wife, Hazel Renee, also referred to the issue after Game 3 of the NBA Finals and took to Instagram to express his displeasure with Boston fans.

“Hard loss tonight, BUT in NO WAY, shape or form should fans be allowed to sing obscenities at players!” Renee wrote on her Instagram story. “Aren’t they human? Is someone standing at your work yelling aggression at you? The NBA has the audacity to have a full code of conduct at every seat about fans and their behavior and how they could be banned from a game or for life, but an entire crowd/ section/ numerous people can yell FUCK YOU DRAYMOND or call him P**** or SON OF A P***? And nothing? It’s okay? Warriors fans would NEVER! My kids were in the stadium tonight listening to that mess! Very UNPLEASANT of you, Celtics fans. Simply embarrassing!”

However, Celtics fans were quick to point out that Green himself was constantly cursing in front of his son…

Celtics fans called the Warriors hypocrites

During one of his post-match press conferences, Green could be heard cursing in front of his son. When asked about his performance in the match, she said that he played “like f*****”.

Also, some people on Twitter they used a video of Green insulting a group of Warriors fans (probably with children present) during the Championship celebrations as evidence of his hypocrisy.

This is a problem that will probably never be solved. The Warriors will always resent Boston for their chanting, and Celtics fans won’t back down either.
