Steve Kerr: “It’s a privilege to coach these players”

Paris, Aug 11 (EFE).- Steve Kerr, coach of the United States, praised the “great experience” at the Paris Olympics “because of the good treatment received and the impressive experience of being able to train these players.”

“I’m very grateful to be at these Olympic Games. They’ve treated us very well, it’s been an awesome experience and I consider myself lucky to be able to coach these guys. I also feel blessed to have coached Kevin Durant again,” said the coach born in Beirut 58 years ago in reference to the first player to win four Olympic gold medals, with whom he won two of his four NBA championship rings with the Golden State Warriors.

Kerr, winner of nine NBA championships, four as a coach and five as a player, summed up a final game against France that lived up to what he had imagined.

“The game was more or less as we expected. France played a very physical game, and did a great job in the last quarter, and they finished the third very well. It was difficult for us to get into the zone where we could have put the game away. Curry also took the initiative to open spaces and put on quite the show,” he commented.

Kerr, who has been working with Curry in Golden State for the past 10 years, highlighted the experience of having the point guard and Kevin Durant on the same team, and seeing “how they work after practice.”

“The whole process is impressive. They work very hard, and it’s not by chance that they are where they are,” he concluded.
