First Advent market on 3 and 4 December: contemplative atmosphere in Aschau im Chiemgau
It smells of mulled wine and gingerbread, the market stalls are festively lit and atmospheric music plays when on the second Advent weekend, 3 and 4 December, the municipality and the tourist office of Aschau im Chiemgau organize for the first time an Advent market. Mayor Simon Frank will open the contemplative meeting at 2pm on Saturday 3 December. The Inntaler Jagdhornbläser rings and the firecrackers of the Royal Bavarian Mountain Rifle Company Aschau im Chiemgau salute the opening.
A total of over 30 exhibitors offer something for young and old. All kinds of delicacies, from hearty dishes to sweet temptations, lovingly crafted products and a live nativity scene await the visitors. The radiant eyes of children are expected at the Dörwald nostalgia carousel. Of course, what should not be missing on cold days are hot drinks, whether punch, hot punch or cocktails.
A small support program is also offered over the two days. On the first day at 3.30pm, Gitti Herden will play special sounds together with harp duets in the twinkling holiday lights. As a “special highlight”, the organizers are planning the opening of the new Star Lantern Path along the Prien between Aschauer Kurpark and the foot of Hohenaschau Castle on Saturday, December 3 at 17:00. 50 individual star lanterns, built by the Franziska Hager middle school in Prien, line the path along the Prien in the direction of the ballroom and are intended to lead to the large star on the tower of Hohenaschau Castle during the Advent season. At the opening of the Stern-Laternen-Weg the “Fritz Musi” will play and the pupils of the Preysing primary school in Aschau will sing an Advent song. At the end of the first day, the Aschau brass band will play music starting at 19:00.
The Liedertafel Prien choir contributes to the Christmas spirit with singing interludes on Sunday at 13:00. At 3.00 pm, the Aschau men’s choir invites you to openly sing Advent songs together. Meanwhile, the Aschau youth band will play at 2 pm. In addition to a book flea market and handicraft sales, on the second day of the market you can hear contemplative tales from Preysing Elementary School Parent Council Readings and at 4pm from Marion Bischoff alongside Petra Knickenberg of the his advent calendar. On Sunday afternoon, from 5 p.m., St. Nicholas will visit the hustle and bustle of Advent and deliver gifts to the children of Aschau. But not only young visitors can look forward to a bag, because Santa Claus has a surprise for everyone from the Aschau trade association and the Aschau im Chiemgau tourist information center – while supplies last. The winners of the window roas “A Schau” will also be announced on Sunday. The prizes can be collected at the Tourist Info Aschau on Sunday 4 December from 11:00 to 13:00.
The first Aschau Advent Market takes place in the Aschauer Kurpark, Kampenwandstraße 38, 83229 Aschau i.Chiemgau. The organizers wish: “Stop, experience and enjoy special moments of the Advent season at the foot of the Kampenwand and the Zellerhorn”.
