After festivals in Breda and Utrecht, there were also events in Venlo and Amsterdam last week.

93 visitors to the Stereo Sunday festival in Venlo later tested positive and 118 people who were at Chin Chin Festival in Amsterdam were later found to be carrying the corona virus. This is stated in an overview that health care minister Hugo de Jonge has sent to the House of Representatives.

Both festivals took place on July 2 and 3 and had a capacity of 10,000 people. Testing for Access was used at the entrance.

It was previously announced that many hundreds of visitors have contracted corona at Verknipt in Utrecht and at Ploegendienst in Breda. For the latter, the counter is now at 423 and in Utrecht there are at least 900 positive tests.

It is not clear whether all visitors have contracted the virus at the aforementioned festivals. Several people indicated that they had also been to other catering establishments.

People were only allowed to go to the events with a corona ticket. The fact that this system was not watertight has also been shown in various other places in the country. Tests were allowed to be administered up to 40 hours in advance and no period was required after full vaccination to allow the vaccine to take effect. That alone made it possible for people who carried the virus to gain access. There were also stories about QR codes tampering.

Due to the explosive increase in the infection figures, the cabinet has banned all events where people do not keep their distance for the time being.
