Stephen Thompson, the current number 7 in the welterweight division, and Kevin Holland will face off in the headlining of UFC Orlando.
In the last Fight Night of 2022, the UFC will return to Orlando, where three events in the history of the organization have already taken place. Heading up the evening, welterweights Stephen Thompson (16-6-1) and Kevin Holland (23-8) will face off in a 5-round bout in front of the Amway Center crowd.
The fight between the two men was announced by MMA Junkie and therefore should not be long in being made official by the organization.
After many months without finding an opponent, Thompson will return to the Octagon for the first time since last December, when he lost by unanimous decision to Belal Muhammad. Before that, Wonderboy remained in another decision loss to Gilbert Burns. His future appearance at UFC Orlando could therefore allow the 39-year-old veteran to return to victory.
For his part, Holland will return just three months after his 1st round submission defeat to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279. 5-round main event after last minute map reshuffle.
Shortly after his loss, the Netherlands announced his retirement. The latter will be short-lived as the 29-year-old fighter will share the Octagon with one of the most iconic names in the 170-pound division. Prior to their defeat to Chimaev, the Netherlands remained with two final wins over Tim Means and Alex Oliveira.
