Stephen Greif, who played Travis in Blake’s Seven, has passed away

Stephen Griff, British actor known for his role as Commander Travis in the television series ‘Blake’s Seven’, has died aged 78, wrote the Guardian, quoted by the DPA and BTA.

His film and television credits also include Citizen Smith, Doctors, The Risen, Casanova and Spartan. Together with Ian McShane, they starred in the British film “The Great Bank Robbery of the Riviera”, released in 1978 (pictured the two in a frame from the film).

One of his latest roles was as Speaker of the UK Parliament in the Netflix TV series The Crown.

Born in Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, England, Griff attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated with honors. He has won awards for Best Actor and Most Promising Actor, according to his bio on his website

Among Griff’s best-known film roles remains that of space commander Travis in the science fiction series Blake’s Seven, which first aired from 1978 to 1981 on the BBC.
