SAN FRANCISCO – Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry will miss the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday because of a blow to the tailbone.
The game against the Sixers will be the third in a row that Curry will be out of action after sustaining the injury in last Wednesday’s win over the Houston Rockets.
“(Steph) isn’t going to play. He did not train today (Monday). He’s pretty beaten up and we’re going to continue to label him day-to-day, ”said coach Steve Kerr. “He participated in some activities in the gym, strength and movement and is not ready to play.
“I talked to him and he said, ‘I’m still in pain,'” he added.
Curry, 33, suffered the injury after tripping and falling hard on his tailbone after attempting an off-balance 3-pointer late in the third period against the Rockets. Despite the setback, Kerr was optimistic that Curry will be back soon.
“It is not something that worries us, but obviously it is going to take more time,” he said.
Kerr said there was a chance James Wiseman and Eric Paschall could play the Sixers Tuesday after being out of action for nearly a week and losing three in a row over protocol to COVID-19.
“Eric and James could possibly play. They weren’t allowed to train today (Monday). We hope that everything goes well with their tests and it has, but they have to complete other tests and if they pass them, then there is a possibility that they will be available (against the 76ers), “said Kerr.
Veteran Kevon Looney returned to practice Monday after losing Saturday’s game over protocols to COVID-19. Looney said he had a false positive and the rest of his tests have come back negative.
