Silence we sink: tenth defeat for the Lakers

Tonight, the Lakers were without LeBron James… and are still defenseless. Collecting 120 points in a basketball game seriously complicates your task, and the “King’s” teammates didn’t lie to the adage. Ahead of the halftime score against Sacramento (60-56), the Lakers stuttered the last two quarters and lost for the tenth time this season, in twelve outings (120-116).

The two remaining stars, Anthony Davis (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Russell Westbrook (21 points, 11 assists but 6/17 shooting) have tried to fight but the Kings collective this season (5v-6d) has made it difference. Behind DeAron Fox’s 32 points, there are five who have scored over ten points. The Los Angeles Lakers are second to last in the West.

The “old” who still shines: another 40 points for Curry

He’s 34 and now he’s even closer to 35 but nothing’s stopping Stephen Curry from getting high. The leader of the Golden State Warriors delivered a new recital (40 points) to lead him to victory against Cleveland (106-101), the fifth in twelve games this season for the Californians not yet on balance.

When you have to pull off all the stops, you can count on the double MVP (2015 and 2016). At 34 years and 242 days, he became the oldest player since Michael Jordan (in 2022 at almost 39 years …) to chain two games at 40 or more points. Indeed, he did it with a barely credible success: 15/23 shooting, of which 6/11 from distance. Just fabulous.

The shock: Boston offers Denver

Denver and Boston are two candidate teams for the NBA Finals. They clashed last night and the victory fell through in the hands of the excellent Celtics at the beginning of the season (131-112). They now have nine wins from three losses as the Nuggets “fall” to eight wins from four losses.

On fire since the launch of the 2022/2023 season, Jayson Tatum has once again made the dust talk with 34 points, well supported by Jaylen Brown’s 25. The Bostonians make the difference in the first half and keep the lead on Denver’s Nikola Jokic (29 points).

The surprise: the Spurs offer themselves to the Bucks

Yes San Antonio managed a better than expected start to the season but from there to seeing Gregg Popovich’s men fall to the Milwaukee Bucks who had only lost once, it was one step. This was surpassed (111-93) by Keldon Johnson (29 points) and his family. It should be noted, however, that the Bucks have been stripped of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton.
