Stephanie Frappart became the first woman to referee a men’s Champions League match. It was on December 2, during the meeting between Juventus and Dynamo Kiev. A week later she was back on the lawns of League 2 to officiate on an Amiens-Chambly. Questioned by the BBC, the international referee has revealed some of his secrets, including that of not reading the criticisms that may be addressed to him by the media or social networks.

« I don’t have any social networks. I don’t read newspaper articles about me. I am in my bubble. I know that in football everyone gives their opinion on the referees and their performance. I keep ignoring all of this, and prefer it. I know I can be a role model. Young women are watching TV, and they see that if I’m there in the field, then it’s possible to make it. This is the first way to allow young women to get into arbitration. »
