Actor Štěpán Kozub has a talent for jokes. Even to such an extent that even the doctors in the ambulance want to hear them from him. In addition to acting, he is also involved in music and has now begun to figure a little in the world of literature.
A clown with a squeezed tear, that’s the name of the autobiographical book that was recently published by the unique actor and musician Štěpán Kozub. “I didn’t write that entirely,” said the artist in the Jan Krause Show. “I was approached if they could write a book about me,” explained Kozub.

He also refuted speculations about his serious health condition: “I had an inflammation of the lungs. I’ve been asthmatic since childhood, so I’ve struggled with it a bit since childhood. And I had a lung attack and then an ambulance took me away,” Štěpán described, adding that Dr. Menšík received him in the hospital, which evoked a kind of actor’s heaven.

Jokes in the ambulance
“So I thought to myself: Oh, they’re coming for me, it’s already here! They flick corticoids into my shoulder and the doctor says: I’m so embarrassed, Mr. Kozub, I know you can’t breathe, but tell a joke! So I sent two people there in the ambulance, he gave me corticoids and it was good,” Kozub recalled about the humorous experience with the paramedics.

Štěpán is known (not only) in Ostrava, where he lives, for having founded the Comedy Club here. “So I thought about it for about five years, I didn’t tell anyone much, and then I thought to myself, now I’d like to open it, but then again, I don’t really want to borrow money somewhere. So I waited until I earned them and now I’ve invested them here in this,” the entertainer explained, adding that he has a team of people who run the business and he just controls it from afar and performs in it.

In his privacy, he values solitude and peace very much, so he lives in a house on the outskirts of town. “I even did the Czech thing of building a swimming pool,” he noted with satisfaction. “So there I jump into that water and I feel a little like I’m at the sea. Sometimes I put a little salt in there for the feeling,” added Kozub. Overall, however, he says he doesn’t have much time for himself and his private life. “Not much now. But I have a daughter, and I try to be with her as much as possible. There is a lot of work. For example, the book took a lot of time. Plus concerts and a club. But I enjoy it. I like doing it,” revealed Štěpán in the next episode of the Jan Krause Show, which you can watch every Wednesday from 9:40 p.m. on Prima.
