Step 4 for starting a business: where to set up your business?

news-detail-info">

Not to be confused with the domicile of the company, which corresponds to its administrative and fiscal address, the installation of offices and premises present various possibilities, some of which benefit from aid.

The most classic when setting up a business is to buy, rent or sublet premises. It is also possible, under certain conditions, to exercise one’s activity at home. And the most innovative entrepreneurs can benefit from accommodation in dedicated structures. Private or public, incubators as well as business incubators provide solutions to accommodation issues.

Incubators support innovative project leaders in all aspects of business creation, by offering them a number of services, including accommodation. Their goal: to transform an innovative idea into a successful business! Incubators are often supported by local authorities. This is the case of the incubator called “Food & Wine Tech”, designed by the Bordeaux Technowest technopole in partnership with the agglomeration community of Libournais. The structure has recently brought together start-ups active in the fields of wine, food and catering. Incubators are also attached to the grandes écoles. At the heart of AgroParisTech’s Massy campus, the Food’Inn Lab offers private experimentation spaces, an experimental kitchen, analysis laboratories, but also offices, meeting rooms and places of conviviality for hosted companies . More and more large companies are also deploying incubators, such as Bernard Magrez for wine start-ups. The first promotion, installed this year, brings together 32 companies including ten “young shoots”, such as Wine Protect. The start-up invented a system consisting of an infrared heating LED equipped with a battery that would prevent the formation of frost.

Business incubators follow on from the incubators that support businesses in the first years following their creation. Business incubators are often public, driven by local authorities.

After validation of the application, they offer project leaders physical accommodation (offices, workshops, places of exchange, etc.) at attractive prices, and equipment and services shared between several companies allowing the reduction of costs (reception, secretariat…). The Agrinove technology park, located in Nérac in Lot-et-Garonne, is one of the business incubators dedicated to the agricultural sector. It currently hosts, for example, Samuel Larigaldie, who in 2019 set up his agricultural mechanics design office specializing in the design of singular machines.

SUCCESSFUL BET FOR THE MONTPELLIER AGGLOMERATION INCUBATOR

Since its creation in 1987, the Business & innovation center (Bic) of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole intends to “accelerate the process of creating innovative companies”. More than 800 start-ups have been supported by this business incubator. In 2018, the five-year business survival rate was 83%. Le Bic de Montpellier also manages two business incubators, Cap Alpha and Cap Omega, and an international business hotel, Mibi. Companies now recognized in the agricultural and IAA sectors, such as ITK, Fruition sciences, Nyseos, Smag, etc., have benefited from the aid offered by the Bic de Montpellier. In 2018 and 2019, the Montpellier Bic was ranked in the world’s top 5 of the best incubators in the UBI Global ranking.
