The only Swedish participant, Henrik Stenson, played stably, much like his previous two rounds and was at midnight in a shared 13th place after going around on 71 strokes with -1 in total (73-71-71). This is the 16th year in a row that he plays in the exclusive competition with only 88 participants.
He had a birdie chance with a five-yard putt on the 18th hole, a shot in the middle of the fairway, and stuffed a safe pair.
Justin Rose, who led from day one, shared the lead with the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama at -7. The Englishman played five holes after Matsuyama and then had half the round left to play in the first men’s major of the year.
