Stellar Blade for Nintendo Switch 2: Gameplay, 60 FPS, and Technical Specs Revealed

August 31, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Stellar Blade Headed to Switch 2 in 2026

The upcoming port of the action-heavy title was shown during a five-minute gameplay presentation at Gamescom, offering a detailed look at how the hack-and-slash game runs on the console.

Hardware Performance and Resolution Targets

According to Shift Up Technical Director DongKi Lee, the development team is building the port to maintain smooth performance across both handheld and docked play modes.

For resolution and scaling, the Switch 2 version operates at a native 720p in handheld mode and scales up to a targeted 1080p when docked. Shift Up relies on Nvidia DLSS for resolution scaling, combined with AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation to lock the frame rate at 60 frames per second. DongKi Lee confirmed that the studio’s primary performance goal is consistency in both hardware configurations.

Early Build Artifacts and Fixed Graphics Profile

During the public demonstration, gameplay footage revealed instances where the frame rate dipped below the targeted 60 fps mark, alongside noticeable visual artifacts common in hardware ports.

The port will not feature selectable graphics mode options, requiring players to rely on the single optimized profile.

Day-One Patch and Touchscreen Integration

Shift Up confirmed that a mandatory day-one patch will ship with the game to further optimize performance and address technical anomalies present in early builds.

The demonstration also highlighted hardware integration, showing an interactive puzzle sequence where the player uses the console’s touchscreen functionality to input a door code.

Launch Timeline and Exact Release Window

While developer updates and public demonstrations have outlined the technical framework for the port, Shift Up and Nintendo have not yet announced an exact release date for Stellar Blade on the Nintendo Switch 2 beyond the 2026 window.
