Automotive corporation Stellantis and Europe’s largest car rental company Sixt have entered into an agreement under which up to 250,000 of the latest generation vehicles will join the Sixt fleet. This is stated in press release Stellar

The first deliveries of the multi-billion-dollar order will begin this quarter with a mix of combustion engine, hybrid and electric vehicles delivered to Sixt in Europe and North America over the next three years.

Stellantis NV is a Dutch multinational automobile manufacturing corporation formed in 2021 as a result of the merger of the Italian-American automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) with the French company Groupe PSA. The name Stellantis comes from the Latin verb stellāre, meaning “to shine with stars.”

The corporation is registered in the Netherlands as a public limited liability company (NV) and owns 14 brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks and Vauxhall.

The Stellantis name is used exclusively as a corporate brand; the names and logos of the automotive brands remain unchanged. The company has approximately 400,000 employees and is present in more than 130 countries with manufacturing facilities in 30 countries.

“This is an agreement with Stellantis […] highlights our promise to provide our customers with the best choice for all their mobile needs. This allows us to accelerate our “Expect the Best” growth strategy after global revenue growth of almost 20% in the first nine months of 2023,” said Konstantin Sixt, one of Sixt’s executives, commenting on the deal.

Supplies for Sixt will include a variety of classes – from city cars to SUVs, vans and trucks (including 7- and 9-seaters), as well as a full range of powertrain types (including battery electric vehicles) with the latest software and information functions. – entertainment technologies.

Sixt SE is a European company providing car rental services with a wide international network of representative offices. As of 2018, the company was represented by more than 2,098 rental points in more than 100 countries, with a fleet of more than 270,000 vehicles.

Sixt Autofahrten was founded in 1912 in Munich (Germany) by entrepreneur Martin Sixt and was the first car rental company in Europe.

Sixt has partnerships with more than 50 global airlines around the world, takes part in their loyalty programs, and is also a partner of a large number of hotel chains such as Hyatt, Hilton, etc., also participates in their programs.

The deal comes a few weeks after Sixt removed Tesla cars from its fleet. notes Bloomberg.

In December, Sixt said it would phase out Tesla as the manufacturer’s sharp price cuts have undermined the prices of used cars, a key source of income for the lessee.

As of the third quarter of last year, Sixt operated just under 190,000 rental vehicles. The problems are also compounded by higher repair costs compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, the company said.

Sixt still plans to electrify up to 90% of its vehicles in Europe by the end of the decade. In 2022, the company signed an agreement with BYD Co. Ltd. on the purchase of up to 100,000 electric vehicles from the Chinese car manufacturer until 2028.
