BILLY-BERCLAU-DOUVRIN, Pas-de-Calais, May 30 (Reuters) – Stellatis will need an additional gigafactory in the United States, or even two, to reach its global target of 400 GWh of capacity, said on Tuesday. Carlos Tavares, the managing director of Stellantis STLA.PA.
“We know that we are going to need a third, even a fourth (battery) factory. Obviously the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) creates very favorable conditions for these investments”, declared Carlos Tavares who s spoke to the press at the inauguration of the first French and European gigafactory of Automotive Cells Company (ACC).
ACC inaugurated on Tuesday the gigafactory of Billy-Berclau-Douvrin (Pas-de-Calais), the first of four sites of the future electric “battery valley”.
