Stellantis, delivery drops 20% in the quarter – News – Ansa.it

Consolidated vehicle deliveries by Stellantis Group in the third quarter amounted to 1.148 million units20% less than the same period in 2023. The decrease in deliveries, explains a note, was higher than the level of sales to final customers, which fell by around 15%, reducing the temporary effect of the move product portfolio and inventory reduction initiatives in the network.

The largest decline was recorded in North Americawith a decline of 36% in deliveries, to 299 thousand units, and in Europe in general, the group’s first market, the decline was 17% to 496 thousand units. In the Middle East and Africa, deliveries fell by 26% to 78 thousand units, in China, India and Asia Pacific by 30% to 14 thousand units while South America grew, with an increase of 14% to 259 thousand units.
“The reduction – explains Stellantis – reflects the inventory reduction initiatives as well as the impact of the launch of new products. It is expected that progress on both will lead to a stronger position to the group for the future”.

In Europe in general, delays in the launch of models based on the Smart Car platform, including the Citroën C3, which began to be delivered to the network in September, contributed to a decline of around 100 thousand units. “The prospects for the launch of the new models in Europe – says the group – are strong with orders for 50 thousand units for the new Citroen C3 and 80 thousand units for the new Peugeot 3008”.

In North America, the reduction in deliveries was around 170 thousand units, with more than 100 thousand due to the announced production cuts aimed at reducing stock in the network, with stock reduced by 50 thousand units compared to the end of the second quarter (- 11.6%). The shrinking of the product portfolio also contributed to the decline due to the shift to the new multi-energy offerings with new generation product launches. In any case, sales to final customers in the US supported the growth in market share, which rose from 7.2% in July to 8% in September.
