The CEO of Alfa Romeo and the new worldwide head of the Stellantis commercial vehicles business unit, today visited for the first time, a few weeks after his appointment, the former Sevel plant in Atessa (Ch), now FCA Italy, the largest light commercial vehicle plant in Europe.
Jean Philippe Imparato made a detailed tour. “He carried out – communicates Stellantis – the in-depth analysis of every detail “of an excellence that is not only Italian but on a global level which, thanks to the work of the people and the quality of the products, allows Stellantis to play a role of absolute leadership in the market for light commercial vehicles in Europe but also to export its vehicles to over 80 countries around the world”.
Learned was welcomed by the plant manager, Paolo Accastello, and by the Human Resources manager, Antonio Viggiano. He first met all the managers of the various units and then, with them, he visited the factory, stopping several times along the lines, to have them explain the individual steps and the proposals for further improving production, especially in terms of quality that the manager he considers “the plant’s priority mission”.
He then examined, in detail, with his closest collaborators (including Luca Marengo, head of LCV Product Serial Life; Costin Seydoux, head of LCV Cluster and Italo Longo, Head of LCV Vehicle engineering), the various models produced in Val di Sangro (Fiat Professional Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer and Opel/Vauxhall Movano) and focused in particular on the new “Conversion center”, the special production line that has just started up whose objective is the personalization of the vehicles produced and consequently the development of collaboration with the other realities of the sector present in the provincial territory. It is a sort of assembly unit which operates under the Quality Authority and which is able to make any transformation, from the electronics to the actual set-up.
“Thanks to the products built in Atessa and in the other production plants of the group, – a note underlines – Stellantis closed 2022 as a leader in Europe and South America, with a share of 30.6% and 29.5% respectively % in the commercial vehicles segment, and as leader in Europe also in the electric commercial vehicles segment with a share of 42.7%.A supremacy confirmed in particular in the Italian market, where, in May, Stellantis conquered a share of 43, 1%. A leadership strengthened above all in the sector of full electric vehicles where it almost reached 60% of the share: in fact it reached 59.4% in May”.
The Stellantis Commercial Vehicles Business Unit aims to lead the global commercial vehicle market “with the most efficient portfolio of products and services”. As part of the “Dare Forward 2030” strategic plan, it also aims “to double revenues by 2030; to have a mix of 40% electric vehicles with battery, fuel cell and extended range propulsion technologies, over-the-air update for each new vehicle starting from 2026 and a suite of dedicated connected services and innovative autonomous solutions”. 08 Jun. 2023
