THE Mayor of Agios Dimitrios Stelios Mamalakis in the greeting to those present he noted that “h Peace race and the commemorations for him Alexandros Panagoulis they are institutions for the city that reflect the democratic, peaceful and fighting spirit of the society of Agios Dimitrios. They are a trademark for Agios Dimitrios for this and we intend to expand their appeal at a supra-local level and strengthen their dynamics in society. This extroversion is already visible from this year and is confirmed by the huge increase of new, big and powerful sponsors for the games, but also of communication sponsors. “We invite all citizens to participate in the Peace Run. The mass participation of citizens, from every corner of Attica, is the message we must send, as a society. Individual participation is a victory for each of us”, added the Mayor of Agios Dimitrios.

Then the floor was taken by Deputy Regional Governor of the Southern Sector, Christos Theodoropoulos who represented her Region of Attica, which is one of the co-organizers of the Peace Run. Mr. Theodoropoulos emphasized that the Peace Run is an acclaimed race in the consciousness of society and the runners, which conveys great and important social messages, goes beyond the limits of the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios and is addressed to all the residents of Attica.

THE Deputy Mayor for Sports and Vice President of the Organizing Committee Evangelos Bourisnoted that it is a recognized sports event with a strong social sign and emphasized that the routes for the 5 and 10 km of the race are certified by the World Athletics Federation.

They participated in the press conference panel Olympians, Paralympians, representatives of sports associations and official bodies. The participants in their presentations congratulated the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios for organizing the Peace Run and the social message it sends for peace, democracy and the protection of human rights. They also noted that the Peace Run is a first-class opportunity to convey to citizens – and especially to children – the message about the value of sports in our lives. They also referred to the major importance of promoting mass sports and praised the initiative of the municipal authority to allocate to the schools of the Municipality the money that will be collected, after covering the costs of the Peace Run.
