The street carnival in Steinen fell victim to the corona virus. Instead, the fool’s guild presents itself on social networks.
If there is not much going on in the crazy present, you have to rave about the glorious Fasnacht past. With this motto, the Steinen fool’s guild is keeping it this year and has practically completely shifted the crazy hustle and bustle to the social networks.
No, it was nothing with the children’s parade on Rose Monday, no carnival parade on Sunday, no festival for the youngest fools in the Wiesentalhalle. And the dirty Dunnschdig fell into the water too. “We did not want to risk crowds of people,” explains Narrenzunft board member Kai Bornschein, the Steinemer street carnival abstinence. Carnival is a nice thing, but health protection has priority these days.

The carnival newspaper and plaque are available in the Hiebermarkt, at the post office and in the Micado and Patchwork shops on Eisenbahnstrasse. Both are also available from the guild members and Kanzellar Kai Bornschein. Mail: [email protected] or Tel: 076278736-
The last few days have therefore only earned the “great” rating to a limited extent. “It’s a little bleak,” complained ex-Ozume Rudi Lieber on Shrove Monday about the corona campaign of frogs, sniffers and witches under the motto “Au me take a smear”. Lieber and his wife indulged in a traditional flour soup and onion waie “and that’s it for the carnival.”
But even if the pandemic of the Steinemer street carnival threw a thick line through the bill: The team around senior guild master Julia Burger did not give in to the virus. Small actions nevertheless took place. For example, the children in emergency care at the primary school in Hllstein were surprised by a member of the frog clique with a cake of candy – as a substitute for the school currents, of course. The embossing of a badge and the production of a fool’s newspaper could not be denied.
The Tillfigur wears a face mask
For the fact that there was no street carnival, the plaque, which adorns a Till figure with a mouth guard next to the motto, has sold pretty well at a price of five euros – the fools can use the money, because expenses have been incurred this year as well .
Above all, however, the Steinen fools’ guild used digital space to present the street carnival, as it was celebrated in Steinen und Hllstein in previous years and how it will hopefully continue in the near future. What Kanzelar Kai Bornschein, together with Julia Burger and Dieter Volz, unearthed exciting topics about the best days in stones and posted on the Fools Guild’s Facebook page is really impressive. There is a historical background to the origin of the carnival society and later the Steinen fool’s guild, it is told how the Hllsteiner frogs got their name and the circumstances under which the Hfnetgeister came to be in December 1981 are highlighted. Frogs and fools are also active on Instagram.
