Four people are dead and two are injured after an accident in the Steigen tunnel in Nordland on Sunday. The dead are Czech tourists from a larger party.

At 16.00, the police in Nordland were notified of a serious traffic accident in the Steigen tunnel in Nordland.
In a press release on Sunday night, the police in Nordland write that four people were confirmed dead by health personnel on the spot. Two more people are injured, and were transported by air ambulance to Nordland Hospital.
– A tractor with a trailer has been hit from behind by a foreign registered car, approximately in the middle of the tunnel. Both of the vehicles involved drove in the direction of E6, writes operations manager Tommy Bech in the press release.
There are six adults involved in the accident. One person was sitting in the tractor and five people were sitting in the car.
All four dead were in the car. The dead are tourists from a large group of travelers, and the police confirm on Monday that they are Czech citizens.
– All relatives have been notified. We are talking about a Czech travel companion, of which the five in the car were part, says operations manager Ivar Bo Nilsson to VG.
