The prima of the native and world athletics – the great Stefka Kostadinov, raised the “Support for the Bulgarian captains” campaign to another level. It is for the sailors Lyubomir Chanev and Danail Veselinov, who were detained together with the ship Galaxy Leader on November 19, 2023.
The chairman of the BOK responded to the initiative without hesitation after the press conference on the occasion of 100 years of Bulgarian athletics, which will be celebrated in November. To her she stated: “I have learned that the great athlete does not grumble. Big is big because it doesn’t grumble! The little ones grumble.” And then once again he demonstrated that he is not only a great athlete, but also a person.
Olympic champion and world record holder (the record of 209 centimeters in the high jump has not been improved for 37 years!) inquired about the fate of the sailors. And then she wished them to be strong, not to lose heart, to jump over this obstacle and soon be together with their families.
The initiative “Support for the Bulgarian captains! Love, Danail – we are with you!” was taken up by relatives and friends of both and launched on December 6, 2023 – Nicholas Day, Sailors’ Day.
