Steffen Baumgart remains coach of SC Paderborn even after relegation to the Bundesliga.
The coach will fulfill his contract dated 2021, the SCP announced on Monday after a “thorough analysis” of the season.
The 48-year-old had taken over Paderborn in 2017 and led him to promotion in 2019, but immediately dropped again with only 20 points.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, Managing Director of Sport in East Westphalia, had previously sought a conversation with Baumgart. “After a sporting relegation, we cannot go straight to the agenda. It is about future viability and an improvement in our competitiveness. Together with Steffen Baumgart, we will now push ahead with planning for the 2020/2021 second division season,” said Wohlgemuth.
Baumgart: “Not just an employer for me”
Meanwhile, Baumgart himself emphasized his attachment to the Paderborn soccer location.
“The SCP07 is not just an employer for me, this club has grown very dear to me in recent years. For me there is no question that I want to fulfill my contract. We are faced with the task of putting together a powerful team that can play a good role in the 2nd Bundesliga, “he was quoted in a statement by the club.
