BRATISLAVA – Peter Sagan’s Belgian teammate Steff Cras was very angry, as he had to withdraw from the famous Tour de France after falling in the eighth stage. Reckless fans were to blame for his fall and the elimination of the rider of the TotalEnergies team.

Every year, the most famous cycling races, in addition to a large number of TV fans, attract many spectators to the roads themselves, where they often recklessly violate the recommendations of the organizers and move in areas where they should not be doing anything. In addition to endangering their own health, they also endanger the competitors themselves, and that’s exactly what he felt on his own skin in the eighth stage of the Tour Cras.

The Belgian found himself on the ground six kilometers before the end of the eighth stage together with Simon Yates and Mikel Lando. The last two names lost their positions, but at least they could continue on the Tour, unfortunately Cras was not so lucky.

The unpleasant fall of Sagan’s teammate was caused by a fan who was taking pictures of the peloton and did not give way to cyclists speeding past. The media manager of the French team TotalEnergies confirmed to the RTVS staff that the injured Cras immediately went to the hospital, where he underwent several examinations and an X-ray, which dispelled fears of broken bones, but the Belgian ended up with a badly hit head and collarbone.

No respect for riders

“When a spectator stands more than a meter in the road and doesn’t move when the peloton is coming, he better stay home. You have no respect for us riders. I believe you feel guilty because I end up at the Tour because of you.” asked the viewers on the social network an angry Belgian, who was among the most pleasant surprises of this year’s Tour.

After seven stages, he was a great 13th. in the overall standings and lost only six minutes to the leader Jonas Vingegaard. Unfortunately, he will not have the opportunity to show his qualities in the next stages of this year’s Tour.
