Stefanos Tsitsipas said Roger Federer has a unique talent for making tennis ‘easy’ and the Greek noted it’s something not many people can understand. Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slams, is described by many as the most aesthetically pleasing player in tennis history.
After his French Open second-round win over Roberto Carballes Baena, Tsitsipas told reporters he was constantly looking to make things easier for himself, but noted that playing effortlessly like Federer is something that probably very few can do.
“Those are things I want to focus on because it’s beautiful when you can play with ease and hit amazing winners, come to the net, get close, get points like that, serve aces, hit amazing returns, it makes tennis ecstatic, it makes tennis feel so easy, like Roger has made it seem sometimes in the past.
Which is not comparable to the way most people try to play because it’s not an easy task,” Tsitsipas said, according to Sportskeeda.
Tsitsipas: Federer’s accuracy is hard to replicate
While Federer was always pure elegance on the court and made tennis look easyRafael Nadal reached the heights by being a hard workera competitor and someone who thrives when the going gets tough and tough.
During his press conference, Tsitsipas pointed out that Nadal is the ultimate proof that you can achieve success by working hard. However, Tsitsipas also noted that Federer’s accuracy was so perfect that it’s hard to replicate even with huge hours of work on the practice court.
“In this regard, I would like to say that I thought about this question the other day, and I read Rafa’s book a bit about how Rafa behaves with a lot of players because it shows you that anyone can be successful with discipline and hard work, and I think that’s a good example, you know.
On the other hand, Federer’s accuracy is hard to replicate, in a way,” Tsitsipas said.
