The president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, was present at the rally of the farmers protesting at the Syntagma and he was warmly welcomed. He called on the government to proceed with substantial solutions for farmers.
In fact, he talked about a cartel that exploits both farmers and consumers.
“Consumers are struggling to survive. There is a cartel in the middle with middlemen and oligopolies. The state should intervene immediately. No more of this mockery. The tax on agricultural oil should be permanently abolished, there should be a ceiling on the agricultural current and finally a debt settlement so that these people do not see their land liquidated. Simple things that must be done immediately”, stressed Stefanos Kasselakis in statements to journalists.
In the Syntagma there is also a multi-member delegation of SYRIZA, with Olga Gerovasilis, Sokratis Famello, Dora Augeris, Panagiotis Rigas, Nikos Pappa, Pavlos Polakis and others.
Later on Tuesday afternoon, the crucial meeting of the Political Secretariat begins, which follows Monday’s marathon meeting, where St. Kasselakis was absent as he was in London.
