Stefanos Kasselakis: “I am ready to become the next prime minister of Greece” (video) – 2024-04-01 04:07:31

The president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, called for double elections, European and national elections, and added that his goal is the overthrow and that he is ready to assume the prime ministership of the country.

Speaking on Natalia Germanou’s show “Kalytera dende dyna” on Alpha, she clarified that SYRIZA-PS will operate independently, although it is always open to collaborations. Describing the objective for the European elections, he said: “I am calling for double elections. The world decided a year ago with facts that have completely changed. We are entitled to reconsider. There is variability in society. SYRIZA will march independently but will be renewed with clear proposals. Our aim is to prove that we will be the progressive government, to show that we have risen, we have been renewed and to bring a very good result. The goal is overthrow. My proposals on taxation have gelled, we will come up with other proposals, we will highlight faces and the world will reward us”. He added that “I don’t want SYRIZA to just get a punishment vote, I want the world to hear our program for a green, democratic, fair Europe for the cuts we are making in taxation, accuracy and justice that we will propose and to trust us . We want a positive vote. SYRIZA will remain independent but will grow.”

He referred to the motion of no confidence: “The motion of no confidence is a useful tool but when the result is given it obviously does not change anything structurally. A useful result was that the arrogance of Kostas Ah was exposed. Karamanlis, it was obvious that he was lying and hiding. We saw the strategy of ‘don’t be ashamed’ from the prime minister himself. Whenever they want to avoid an issue they say don’t be ashamed: ‘don’t be ashamed to say I’m watching my minister’, it’s always his strategy to throw the ball on the platform. Apparently this is what Mr. Greenberg has told him to convince us all that because he wears a tie and speaks well abroad it is impossible for him to have done these things domestically. But as it turns out, it is not excluded and that is exactly what has happened. Finally, and I also saw it in the camp, society is seething from this crime of Tempe and from the cover-up and after the prolonged applause in the Parliament will come a very strong slap in the European elections”. Regarding the applause of ND MPs, he said: “You have been elected by the vote of the citizens, choose either you are a MP or you are a sheep in the fold”. Despite his misgivings, he noted that “the progressive world stood with dignity in parliament. Zoe Konstantopoulou was very combative and well done to her”. Answering a question, he said: “I don’t care if Nikos Androulakis tried to take advantage of his absence while he was in the army.”

He persisted in his request for elections to be held with international observers saying that there should be greater control, due to the violations of the rule of law by the ND government such as the leaking of the information of Greeks abroad.

He said characteristically: “who guarantees that personal data of internal voters has not been leaked?” Can Mr. Mitsotakis guarantee it? The immutability of the elections is not a given. When one of the two fireplaces is in danger of prison from Tempe crime, not to mention the Predator and wiretapping, then they will leave scorched earth, nothing is certain. We need to know if the details of the Greeks are confidential”.

He confirmed that he will choose five persons for MEP candidates who may be some of those who are already on the list for their election from the party base.

Regarding the criticisms he received regarding his short military service, he said: “The 20-day soldier insults the entire diaspora. Greece is a country of nepotism and nepotism, I came to the country permanently because I became the leader of the official opposition. I’m proud to have served, I’ve done what the law says, I’ve worn the coat of arms with pride. I have not offended anyone in this country, I am not lying, I am not saying you are not ashamed”.

Regarding the Prime Minister’s complaints about economic interests, he said: “If a government has a real popular base, it is not afraid of economic interests, nor is it based on economic interests. All this is a system that helped them stigmatize SYRIZA as a ‘National exception’ and now it is backfiring on them”.

Regarding his relations with Alexis Tsipras and the Institute he was establishing, he said: “Our relations are fine. We are in touch, he sent me wishes and we talked a week ago while I was in camp, we are better than ever. Mr. Tsipras is a man who was mercilessly beaten by the propaganda of the Mitsotakis system. We are proud of what SYRIZA has achieved, Alexis Tsipras made great inroads in Greek society and he is doing well and wants to present them to Greek society through an Institute. Mitsotakis has the right to have Greenberg and Alexis cannot have a consultant for his Institute. And with the opportunity to find out who pays Greenberg. Because I see every year the debt of the ND increases – such a debt arrangement I have never seen before. Will ND tell us how Stan Greenberg is paid?”

Regarding the defense policy and armament expenditures, he said: “We cannot afford to have lower defense expenditures, obviously it is a goal to be able to redistribute income to social needs, but we are in a special geopolitical situation. The cheapest defense is prevention. On the other hand, I do not consider it appropriate to send equipment that we have paid for in gold to Ukraine or other countries. I want our defense equipment to stay in the country. We can help in another way, with humanitarian aid. We also cannot pay the guards with 8.60 euros per month”.

About his tenure he said: “The atmosphere was warm and it was an opportunity to socialize with new people who have stopped dreaming. I did both chore and lanza. Tenure has benefits, it coordinates and unites society, it brings together people from all walks of life. Conscription should have a more social character. The education should continue and then for example until 40. The society should be more ready for a bad moment. The guards should also be paid at least 150 euros per month. And then we should also take care of our soldiers who also experience insecurity”.

In response to a related question, he said that there are persons from the ND that he could bring “as a transfer to SYRIZA”.

Regarding the lifestyle for which he receives criticism, Mr. Kasselakis said that “my life is transparent. Let’s also see the lifestyle of others”. Regarding his personal issues, he said: “We will have a wedding soon, in Crete, in my special homeland in a very close circle.”
