A soil is included therein if OVAM receives “relevant soil research data or information about the presence of activities with a risk of soil contamination”, can be read on the website of the Flemish government.
However, OVAM already wanted to send out a press release in 2017 about the PFOS contamination around the 3M factory. But that was then stopped from a political angle, the top woman of the Waste Company said a few months ago.
“A year ago I didn’t even know that 3M existed. Everything only surfaced in May of this year. Now it turns out that that certificate should not have been blank at all. I would never have bought that house if I had known that there was pollution there and that that would be so harmful to my children,” concludes Stefanie Bellinkx.
