Stefan Shikerov Under House Arrest: Claims Innocence and Victim of Police Brutality

Stefan Shikerov, who was accused of burning a police bus during the protests against the BFS, is under house arrest. On his release from custody, he declared that he was innocent, and that he himself was a victim of police misconduct.

“I categorically did not participate in the burning of the bus. I was out, in truth, for a present. I was a passer-by who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he explained to BTV.

The young man says that while he was walking to the subway, a uniformed police officer asked him for his ID.

“With the request for the document, he put me in a group of 10 people – law enforcement officers, and from there it started – ‘we will cut off your head’, hit me on the head, hit me in the waist and back. As a result, I still can’t hear right now. I said, I’m expecting a baby at any moment, and they said “this baby is from us” and some such nonsense, which just shocked me,” says Stefan.

Shikerov denies having participated in the arson. According to his defense, there are videos that prove his innocence.

According to the magistrates, there is evidence that Stefan Shekerov took part in the crime, and his actions are a “publicly dangerous and vandal act”. However, he has a clean criminal record and is the father of a newborn.

Before the court, the 29-year-old man stated that during the arrest he was beaten with a police baton, insulted and threatened by the uniformed officers. Medical for the injuries was also presented.

After the protest, the Ministry of the Interior stated that he was recognized by the police as the perpetrator of the crime and that is why he was detained.

However, earlier today in court it became clear that Stefan Shikerov was examined by a doctor in custody and injuries from a beating were found.
