Stefan Holm took a job as a substitute at a school in Karlstad. On Tuesday morning, he led his first two lessons, which he describes as chaotic.
In the afternoon he had two more lessons, the first was relatively calm. But in the second it got rowdy, which resulted in Holm being reported to the police, something like New Wermlands-Tidningen be the first to tell.
The whole thing is said to have started in a fight over an armchair in the classroom. Holm describes that several students wanted to sit in the armchair in different rounds. When another guy ran and sat in the armchair, it spilled over for the Olympic gold medalist.
He grabbed the student and dragged him forward into the classroom.
– I explained that he was not allowed to sit there. He didn’t do anything and then it was like it spilled over, then I grabbed him and dragged or pulled him across the classroom and put him at the front.
After that, the student tried to run out of the classroom, but then Holm grabbed the student again and pulled him back to his place.
Did you feel immediately after the event that something went wrong?
– Yes, I did. I know I can’t do that. But in the heat of battle, unfortunately, the mind overflowed.
Holm and the student met afterwards in the principal’s office. There, he says, the emotions calmed down.
– I made a mistake, but we resolved the situation on the spot. Then I fully understand that the school must take measures.
– I really hope that he is okay and that there are no “hard feelings” like that.
The school reported to the police the incident during Friday morning.
– The student seems to be fine and had no visible injuries, the principal says NWT.
Holm also says that he apologized to the student and that he is not suitable as a teacher.
– I thought I had some kind of experience because I have trained track and field athletes for many years. But junior high school is incredibly tough, and I’m not the right person because I was so provoked on the first day.
