Ajax captain is not at all considering leaving Amsterdam. The left winger says this in response to a question from Telegraphclub watcher Mike Verweij, who asks the 26-year-old attacker somewhat suggestively whether he would rather move to Saudi Arabia in the winter or summer.
“You were associated with a transfer to Saudi Arabia. Do you want to leave in the winter or is the summer a more logical time to leave?”, Verweij wants during the press conference after the meeting with Sparta Rotterdam (2- 1) know about the former PSV player. The club watcher therefore conveniently assumes that Bergwijn wants to leave the Johan Cruijff ArenA anyway and that the only question is when that will happen.

So I don’t have to leave.” Verweij ripostes: “So we can write down that you will still be playing football here after the winter?”, to which Bergwijn replies: “You never know what will happen, but what I say: I don’t have to leave.”
In the summer of 2022, Bergwijn came over from English Tottenham Hotspur for a club record of 31.25 million euros. In his first season, the 32-time international scored sixteen times in 45 matches in all competitions. Against Sparta, he scored from the penalty spot for the 2-0 in Amsterdam’s favor shortly before half-time, bringing his season total to eight for the time being in his second year.
