Eupen coach Bernd Storck preached after the heavy defeat at Cercle Brugge for peace and positivity, but Stef Peeters didn’t get it that way. He was clearly disappointed with his teammates.
“We prevailed on mentality, on the second ball and on the desire to do something with it,” said the Eupense captain. “We are not ready to play against relegation. It was zero across the board.”
“At no time were we entitled to a draw, let alone three points. Some players have to think about what it takes to stay in the first division.”
Peeters doesn’t mince words. “Everyone has to decide for themselves what to bring every day and not just Saturdays or Sundays. You also have to do the right things every day and this is apparently a problem.”
The heavy losses against Gent last week and Saturday against Cercle were clearly high for Peeters. “For many players it already seems to be difficult to perform in training every day. Everyone has to decide for himself if he is doing enough to keep the club in the first division.”
