In an article about transgressive behavior at art academies, that Wednesday through Het Parool on NRC was published, the past of the recently hired curator came to light.
The museum writes in a press release that during the recruitment process there were interviews with an application committee and a reference check. “On the basis of this recruitment process, there was no reason at the time not to work with this employee; the employee in question was transparent towards us at the time.” However, he would not have reported the reason for his suspension.
Directors Rein Wolfs and Jacqueline Bongartz point out that they do not tolerate transgressive behavior and that everyone in the museum is entitled to a safe environment. “We take every report that is made very seriously.”
