Steam version MechWarrior 5 has been delayed to Spring 2021 and is coming to Xbox – Gaming – News

I’ve been a huge Mechwarrior fanboi since the 90s. Played every part, MWO best competitive on high level. And now also recently MW 5 Mercenaries now that I got a 3080 and this game supports DLSS 2.0 + RT. The game is on Gamepass for PC.

But gosh, what an unoptimized mess. You can even forget RT with DLSS (3080 in conjunction with 10700K)
In your “dropship” you see most of RT, lots of glass surfaces .. fps 20 +/- ..

Good, except for this, the game itself is also useless. The production values ​​are super low. The character models of NPCs in your dropship doing your briefings are completely still, and their mouths move (not even in sync) just with the spoken dialogue (which sucks)
They got the mech models from Mechwarrior Online of course so that was easy, yes nice destructable environments like Mech assault on the original xbox (ahead of its time, also the multiplayer experience in MA2) but your AI buddies completely flatten your defense targets with their battlemechs that will make you lose the game, unless you micromanaged them to act as glorified turrets in certain places.

*TLDR*
No, even as a huge fan, someone who has played all MW games including the tabletop and has some books in the cupboard. I absolutely cannot recommend it.

The fact that this game will not perform on Steam has nothing to do with 2077.
