Steam Users Beware: Virtual Moves Could Lead to Unwanted Region Changes

Due to restrictions or in pursuit of low prices, some Steam users change their region. Something happened to the tourists

Some Steam users are making virtual moves to other regions, such as Turkey or Argentina. Something strange has recently happened to these tourist shoppers. After the purchase, their region was changed.

Some explicit system in changing the region of the Steam account is not yet visible. At first, there were speculations that Steam was sending to native regions, but there is the following interesting incident.

For example, Shikari MG from Turkey sent to the USA, not to Russia: “I sat in Turkey for a long time, everything was fine, I replenished the balance exclusively through skins, 2 days ago, as usual, I bought a skin, resold it at the buyout price on the trading floor, i.e. nothing suspicious, but I kept 40 lira, today I look, they fell on the balance, just enough for what I wanted to buy, I go to the basket, I buy, an error, the currency turns into dollars, and the account moves to the USA“. The games were not taken away, the gamer did not use the VPN.

Judging by this postthe user under the nickname “chider tv” was returned to Russia.

Judging by commentsthis problem is relevant not only for Russian gamers, but also Western community. An account from Turkey or Argentina can be arbitrarily moved to the US or Europe. Previously, many publishers complained about the increased cases of abuse of regional prices (in Turkish and Argentinean Steam).
