Valve justA new beta version of the Steam client is available, which added 4K support for the “Remote Play” function. Before this, it was possible to play 4K remotely, but you had to experiment with various settings yourself, and the final result was not ideal. Now that there is official support, it should be possible to simplify a lot of settings.
Steam’s remote play mainly allows you to stream PC games to mobile phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs and other devices to play. Among them, smart TVs will undoubtedly benefit the most, and can make full use of 4K High resolution TV. However, 4K will inevitably have higher bandwidth requirements at home, especially older Wi-Fi systems may need to take the opportunity to upgrade.
In addition to 4K support for Remote Play, the new client can now resize the settings window and make the “back page” button more reliable when adjusting settings. Others are bug fixes like missing folders when verifying file integrity and some windows “freezing”. If you can’t wait to try it, you can go to “Settings > Interface > User Beta Participation” and select “Steam Beta Update” to join the beta version, or wait a while until the official version is launched.
