People like to buy and play games from Steam, but anyone who’s really interested in doing research on the site (like us, that’s our job) There are two things they want to know: which games sell the most copies and which games are played the most.
New Steam charts from Valve” page Puts It’s all in one place and makes the whole process a lot more enjoyable as you do it. In a press release from the company we read:
Today we are launching Steam Charts, a new section of Steam dedicated to showcasing the most played and best-selling games on Steam. Including numbers in real time.
The Steam Charts page replaces Steam Stats as a complete overview of what’s popular on Steam, in real time, by week or even by month. The Steam rankings also collect numbers in more detail to allow for a more comprehensive view of what players are excited about.
It is basically a file A page with all the popularity data you want to know (aside from the actual number of units sold, which lol as if Valve were releasing it at any given time), with a directive on the page With the number of people currently online.
It then shows the top five games and the five most played games, with the ability to quickly expand these rankings to show the top 100 games in both areas. Then there are the bestsellers, the best new releases, and quick links to other useful data pages related to Steam such as Valve’s hardware survey results – always interesting for detailing the GPU market, if nothing else – and stats from download.

To be clear, very little of this is neweven if I think the “live” sales rankings have some welcome additions such as how many weeks the game has been in the rankings and how many seats it has moved up or down in the last week. Overall, tthis is just a welcome update of the way the data is presented.
