Steam Deck 2 will optimize screen and battery – Hong Kong Mobile Game Network GameApps.hk

In an interview with the media, Steam Deck designers Lawrence Yang and Pierre-Loup Griffais introduced the features they will prioritize and look forward to in the next generation of Steam Deck, saying they will improve screen and battery life in the next generation of monsters update.

Valve called Steam Deck a “multigenerational product” and said it wanted to create “a new version that is more open and compatible than the first version of Steam Deck”. Yang and Griffais said in the interview that in later models, the screen and battery are the focus of optimization.

In terms of performance upgrades, Griffais believes it’s good for developers to maintain continuity, meaning next-gen models’ performance may not improve much. “I think we will choose to maintain a level of performance for a while longer until the need to improve performance becomes apparent,” she said.

The current Steam Deck update direction focuses on two points, Yang introduced: “One is the part we want to fix, and the other is the part we still want to do.”

Current Steam Deck batteries are difficult to replace because they are bonded by design. Valve is working on “changing the geometry of the sticker to make battery removal easier.” Since the battery wears out faster than other components, the replaceable battery design is sure to be popular among gamers.

Additionally, Valve is also working on an audio mixing feature between apps, so players can turn down the game’s volume and still hear their friends’ voices on Discord. Valve is also interested in adding mobile games to the machine, and Griffais and Yang say the most important thing is for gamers to know those games are touch-only experiences.
