Staying Up to Be the Boss of BTN, Check Out the Profiles of 4 These Bankers

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The name of the person who will become the President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk (BBTN) will be determined by the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) today, Wednesday (10/3/2021).

The appointment of the President Director is one of the nine agendas at the AGMS. For information, in the last few months the position of definitive President Director of a bank that specializes in KPR loans has been vacant after the captain, Pahala Mansuri, has become Deputy Minister of BUMN.

For the time being, BBTN is led by an acting (Plt) President Director, namely Nixon LP Napitupulu. Currently there are four strong candidates who are said to be the President Director of BBTN. One of them came from internal BBTN, namely Nixon Napitupulu and three others from outside BBTN namely Sis Apik Wijayanto, Haru Koesmahargyo and Handayani.

The last candidate is a woman who also has a career in banking. More precisely, also in state-owned banks with the largest assets, namely BBRI. Who else if not Handayani.

Nixon LP Napitupulu

The name Nixon is actually not new to the banking world. The man who had received his undergraduate education at the University of Sumatra, Medan, joined BBTN since March 2017.

50-year-old Nixon was appointed as a temporary replacement for Pahala Mansuri when the BBTN boss was assigned to be Deputy Minister of BUMN accompanying Erick Thohir since the end of December last year.

Now Nixon is one of the strongest candidates to occupy the number one leadership seat at the state-owned bank. In the banking world, Nixon’s first career was undertaken as a Executive Officer at PT Bank Export Import (Persero) in October 1995.

Nixon’s career in banking continues to climb. Throughout his nearly 26 years of career in banking, he has mostly spent at PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI). Nixon was one of the witnesses to the establishment of BMRI, the result of a combination of several banks after the 1998 monetary crisis.

In 1999, Nixon became Section Head – Manager of the Business Performance Management Group atBMRI. Approximately 16 years of his time atBMRI. His last position was as Head of the Transition Team for Bank JV, Senior Vice President for Corporate Transformation Group.

Nixon was one of the people involved in the formation of the joint venture between BMRI, PT Taspen and PT Pos in forming PT Bank Mandiri Taspen Pos or better known as Bank Mantap.

In May 2015, Nixon officially became the President Director of Bank Mantap. However, in March four years ago, Nixon joined BBTN as Director of Finance, Treasury & Strategy before becoming the Acting President Director as he is today.

Sis Apik Wijayanto

The names of the two BBTN boss candidates are Sis Apik Wijayanto. Currently he is the Director of Institutional Relations at PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI). The man who was born in 1961 obtained a bachelor’s degree (S1) majoring in Business Administration from Brawijaya University, and a stratum II (S2) majoring in Management from Airlangga University.

Prior to becoming Director of Institutional Relations at BBNI, Sis had served as Consumer Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk (2016-2017), Institutional Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk (2017-2019).

Sis’s career at BBRI can be said to be quite long. Approximately 10 years ago, Sis served as Deputy GM BBRI Yogyakarta regional branch office. Two years later, Sis was appointed as GM of Special Branch of BBRI which also lasted for two years.

Then in 2015, Sis became GM of BRI Regional Office Jakarta 2. Prior to serving on the board of directors of the state-owned bank with the largest assets in the country and the MSME loan specialist.

Haru Koesmahargyo

Another candidate who is also said to be the President Director of BBTN is Haru Koesmahargyo. Haru received his education in the Department of Agricultural Industrial Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya. Haru also received investment banking education at Emory University.

Haru was the Head of the Investor Relations Desk of the Corporate Secretariat Division at BBRI in 2009-2011. After that Haru was appointed as General Manager at the Overseas BBRI Branch Office in New York.

His career at BBRI continues to climb. After becoming GM abroad, Haru returned to Indonesia to become Head of the Treasury Division at BBRI Headquarters. The tenor this time is only a year because it runs from 2014-2015.

Only a year holding the division treasury, Haru was appointed as Director of Finance of BBRI approximately five years ago. Then at the January 2021 EGMS, Haru stopped being BBRI’s Finance Director.

Handayani

Lastly, the candidate for the strongest leader of BBTN is Handayani who is currently the Consumer Director of BBRI. He is a bachelor of dentistry from Airlangga University and a Master of Management from Padjadjaran University.

Served as BRI Consumer Director since 2017 after previously serving as Director of BBTN for one year.

He also held the position of Commercial Director of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) in 2014-2016. He also served as Director of Marketing & Alternate Distribution of PT AXA Mandiri in 2013-2014.
