Staying stuck for 5 hours between rocks to retrieve an iPhone, this woman did it

With smartphones becoming more and more expensive, containing a multitude of personal information and memories, losing this device can cause people to do some pretty unusual things. This is also the case of a young Australian in her twenties, who decided to get stuck between rocks to recover her iPhone.

Do everything to recover your iPhone

Matilda Campbell dropped her iPhone in a most difficult place to access: between two large rocks. Instead of leaving it there, or trying to retrieve it using a MagSafe magnetic charger, she decided to dive headfirst into it to try to catch it.

A choice which could have earned him a Darwin Award if the emergency services had not managed to get her out of there. Moreover, a team of rescuers had to remove rocks to successfully extract the young woman from there.

In fact, the rescue lasted several hours, leaving the woman stranded for almost 5 hours. “The rescue, which lasted several hours, finally allowed her to be brought out feet first. During the operation, team members had to construct a frame to hold some rocks in place and push others aside,” reports Vice.

Unfailing composure

One of the rescue specialists, Peter Watts, told ABC Australia: “In my ten years of experience as a rescuer, I have never had the opportunity to work like this.”

He also defines the woman as a soldier, very calm during the extraction process. “I would have been beside myself in that kind of situation, but when we were there, she was calm, she was focused, whatever we asked her to do, she was able to do to help us get her out from there,” he emphasizes.

At the end of this whole story, Matilda Campbell shared on Instagram the injuries resulting from this adventure, between the beatings and injuries she endured in her quest to save her phone. She also talks about a fractured vertebra for the occasion.

And the information that everyone was waiting for: the iPhone was never found…

The iPhone 16 Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2868 x 1320 pixels and a ProMotion adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It is equipped with an A18 chip Pro with a 6-core CPU and GPU, delivering exceptional performance. Its 48MP main camera with optical stabilization and Dolby Vision 4K video recording captures high-resolution videos and photos, while its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 33 hours of video playback.
