Stavrum & Eikeland, Henrik Asheim | Henrik Asheim shouts strong warning about public spending

Minister of Research and Higher Education Henrik Asheim, who is currently also acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, shouts warnings about the galloping expenditure in the public sector when he visits the podcast Stavrum & Eikeland.

– We must have private actors in. If not, we get a class divide in elderly care, says Asheim.

Half of all Norwegians now live in the public sector; almost 360,000 are on disability benefits, almost 1 million are pensioners and almost 900,000 have their daily work in the public sector. Public spending is galloping and to Stavrum & Eikeland the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs is answering how long this can continue and how he intends to reverse this rising trend.

Asheim further says that very many Norwegians with higher education would struggle to get a job in other countries, about why we do not have any world-leading educational institutions in Norway and about what education he would take now.

He is one of the favorites to take over the leadership chair in Høyer after Erna Solberg when she abdicates. What will Asheim’s Norway look like with him as prime minister?

This and much more in Stavrum & Eikeland. You can also listen to the podcast in Apple podcasts and Spotify.
