statuses evolve to look like Instagram Stories

WhatsApp improves its status function

whatsapp comes to announce an update important dedicated to the statutes on the platform. As a reminder, this option integrated into the instant messaging service allows you to share information (texts, photos, videos, GIFs, etc.) with your WhatsApp contacts, via a story that disappears after 24 hours, like Instagram or Snapchat Stories.

However, this functionality seems to be little used at present by platform users, which could explain Meta’s choice to add “new features to WhatsApp status to allow you to better express yourself and communicate. »

Please note: This update is currently rolling out globally, and should be available to everyone. in the coming weeks “, according to WhatsApp.

New WhatsApp status features

In total, WhatsApp has announced 5 new options to make better use of your Stories space:

  1. Private audience selector: now, with each status posted, you have the option to change your privacy settings to define precisely who can see each status. Note: The audience defined last is used by default for the following statuses.
  2. Statut vocal : you can embed voice messages up to 30 seconds into your WhatsApp status.
  3. Reaction to the statutes: it is possible to react to the WhatsApp statuses of your contacts with an emoji (8 choices of emojis in total, which you can see in the image above).
  4. Status Rings: like on Instagram, your contacts’ profile pictures will be circled by a green ring when they post a new status (which you haven’t seen yet). This ring will be visible: in the discussion lists, the member lists of a group as well as in the info of the contact in question.
  5. Link previews: if you add a URL to your story, a preview will automatically be generated, allowing your contacts to learn more before clicking on the link.
