A New York, le Little Prince now has his statue on the prestigious 5th avenue. A “Little Prince” of bronze and clay was born on September 20 at the entrance to the Villa Albertine, a French bookstore and headquarters of the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States.
The inauguration brought together Catherine ColonnaMinister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Oliver d’Agaygreat-nephew ofAntoine de Saint-Exupéry. The 1m20 statue was sculpted from clay and cast in bronze in a single piece in the French artist’s workshop Jean-Marc de Pas, in Normandy. This artistic and memorial project is the result of a collaboration between the American Society of Le Souvenir Français and the Antoine de Saint Exupéry Foundation for Youth.
The artist-sculptor Jean-Marc de Pas is also the author of the bust of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry currently exhibited at the Air and Space Museum in Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis). Other inaugurations took place during this year of the 80th anniversary of the publication of the Little Prince published by Reynal & Hitchcock. In South Korea, the “Little Prince Museum” opened its doors on Jeju Island. In France, an 8.5 hectare corn maze, arranged as a fun course, was installed in Combourg (Ille-et-Vilaine).
